The second event of the CGS golfing calendar, The Spring Classic, took place on the 11th April 2024 at Denham Golf Club near Uxbridge.

The generous sponsor of the day was George Polycarpou of The Bespoke Shutter Company Ltd.

51 members and 5 guests signed up for the event. Denham was in excellent condition considering the wet winter we have experienced this year! The weather was perfect for golf, partly cloudy and warm.

The popular captain, Steve Chrysostomou thanked the sponsor and welcomed all the golfers after the customary breakfast.

Winner of the day with an excellent score of 39 points was Tony Philippou. Tony is a strong competitor, past major and holiday winner and was delighted with his victory. The runner up, in second place, beaten on a countback, was Captain Steve… that putt that got away!

Dinner was incredible, with most members claiming it was the best meal ever at a CGS society event! Carvery with 3 meats, seabass, a great selection of veg and potatoes, followed by an assortment of desserts!

The prizes were awarded after dinner and the customary fines for indiscretions were issued raising £550 towards the captains nominated charity; Christoforos Charity Foundation Helping Save Lives. The current total raised for the charity is an amazing £1,510!
