† DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT – FUNERAL
George Adonis
(From Vasili, Cyprus)
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father, George Adonis who sadly passed away peacefully on Tuesday 9th of April 2024.
He leaves behind his two children Francesca and Nicholas, grandchildren Elias and Ophelia, 3 brothers and sister, relatives and friends.
Born in Vasili, Cyprus in 1941, George came to London in the early 60’s to study Law, he was called to the Bar in 1973 and successfully became a Barrister at law, setting a precedent for the Cypriot community.
Passionate about Cypriot politics, he was well known in the UK Cypriot community, and was Vice President of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK, Secretary of the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood and treasurer for Leonarisso Vasili Association UK.
George was a proud and loving family man who warmed the hearts of many, he enjoyed a wonderful happy life with his beloved wife Irene, children and grandchildren.
The loss of our dad and Bapou, is softened only by the fond memories we will cherish forever.
The funeral service will be held on Friday 26th April 2024, at St Andrews Greek Orthodox Church, Kentish Town Road, NW1 9QA, at 12:30pm followed by the burial at Islington & St Pancras Cemetery, at 2:30pm, 278 High Road, East Finchley, London N2 9AG. The wake will be held at the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood, 2 Britannia Road, London N12 9RU.
Although floral arrangements are welcomed, there will be a donations box for the British Heart Foundation available on the day of the funeral.

Γιώργος Άδωνις

Με βαριά καρδιά και μεγάλη θλίψη ανακοινώνουμε τον θάνατο του αγαπημένου μας πατέρα, Γιώργου Άδωνι που δυστυχώς έφυγε από τη ζωή ειρηνικά την Τρίτη 9 Απριλίου 2024.
Καταλείπει τα δύο παιδιά του τη Φραντσέσκα και Νικόλαο, τα εγγόνια του Ηλία και Οφηλία, 3 αδερφούς και αδερφή, συγγενείς και φίλους.
Γεννημένος στο Βασίλι της Κύπρου το 1941, ο Γιώργος ήρθε στο Λονδίνο στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ’60 για να σπουδάσει Νομική, κλήθηκε στο Δικηγορικό Σύλλογο (Bar) το 1973 και έγινε με επιτυχία Δικηγόρος (Barrister) θέτοντας προηγούμενο για την κυπριακή κοινότητα.
Παθιασμένος με την κυπριακή πολιτική, ήταν πολύ γνωστός στην κυπριακή παροικία του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου και ήταν Αντιπρόεδρος της Εθνικής Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας στο Η.Β., Γραμματέας της Ελληνοκυπριακής Αδελφότητας και Ταμίας του Συνδέσμου Λεονάρισο Βασίλι Η.Β.
Ο Γιώργος ήταν ένας περήφανος και τρυφερός οικογενειάρχης που ζέστανε τις καρδιές πολλών. Απόλαυσε μια υπέροχη ευτυχισμένη ζωή μαζί με την αγαπημένη του σύζυγο Ειρήνη, τα παιδιά και τα εγγόνια του.
Η απώλεια του μπαμπά και του παππού μας, μαλακώνουν μόνο οι όμορφες αναμνήσεις που θα έχουμε για πάντα.
Η κηδεία θα γίνει την Παρασκευή 26 Απριλίου 2024, από τoν Καθεδρικό Ναό του Αγίου Ανδρέα του Αποστόλου, Kentish Town Road, NW1 9QA, στις 12:30μμ και θα ακολουθήσει η ταφή στο Islington & St Pancras Cemetery, στις 2:30μμ, 278 High Road, Ανατολή Finchley, London, N2 9AG.
Η παρηγοριά θα δοθεί στην Ελληνοκυπριακή Αδελφότητα, 2 Britannia Road, London, N12 9RU.
Παρόλο που οι εισφορές λουλουδιών είναι ευπρόσδεκτες, θα υπάρχει διαθέσιμο κουτί εισφορών για το British Heart Foundation στην εκκλησία την ημέρα της κηδείας.
