Israel’s attack on Iran is heading close to the scenario of a regional conflagration, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Giorgos Koukoumas pointed out to ‘Astra’ radio.

Asked to comment on the information transmitted by Israeli state television, according to which US missiles were transferred to Israel from Qatar via Cyprus, the AKEL Spokesperson characterised such an engagement as extremely dangerous and worrying. AKEL, he said, has constantly raised the issue of the involvement of the British bases since the beginning of the Israeli army’s operations.

We do not want our country to be complicit in any crime against other peoples, and we are opposed to the use of Cyprus’ territory, G.Koukoumas stressed. He went on to criticise the government for not opposing the genocide of the Palestinians being committed by Israel and for siding with Netanyahu.

On Council of Europe decision

Furthermore, the AKEL C.C. Spokesperson stated that precedents were being set by the decision to admit Kosovo to the Council of Europe. He noted that those who supported this development must consider the dangers of encouraging secessionist movements.

G.Koukoumas recalled that the entity of Kosovo emerged after the NATO invasion of Yugoslavia in 1999 in violation of international law and the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
