Alex Tofalides made history for Cypriot fencing in Luxembourg. He reached the final at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after a thrilling all-day competition. Tofalides clinched victory against Belgian fencer Stef De Greef, securing the only available qualification spot in the Men’s Foil event.

The Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC), in a press release says that Tofalides battled against more than 70 athletes from across Europe for this exclusive qualification opportunity. The COC sent warm congratulations to Alexandros Tofalides, his coach Benjamin Peggs, and the Cyprus Fencing Federation for earning a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With Tofalides’ qualification, the Cypriot Olympic team now boasts six members, and Tofalides joins the ranks of Pavlos Kontides (ILCA 7/Sailing), Denis Tarantin (Kite/Sailing), Marilena Makri (ILCA 6/Sailing), Andri Christoforou (Road Cycling), and Marios Georgiou (Individual All-Around/Artistic Gymnastics).
