Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Diamond Corp. Ltd., witnessed a weekend filled with thrilling match reports, including three intense derbies or intra-club clashes. From dominating victories to emotional farewells, the weekend showcased the club’s talent and unity on the field.

Omonia U18 in Emotional Send-off: In their final encounter, Omonia’s U18 Gold were up against Omonia U18 Silver in what was a heartfelt WFL derby which was the last time the two teams would face each other in their 11 year contest. Goals from both sides and a genuine battle marked an emotional end to an era. Silvers Coach Adam bid farewell, reflecting on the players’ growth and wishing Golds success in their pursuit of an undefeated season.

U16 Girls’ Double Delight: Omonia’s U16 Girls clinched two impressive wins in a HGFPL double-header, triumphing 2-0 and 5-0. Shekhinah’s four goals highlighted their dominance, with Flo earning praise for her exceptional performance. Coach Sophia commended the team’s unity and determination, setting the stage for continued success.

 

U8s Thrilling Derby Display: Omonia’s U8 Silver and U8 White teams delivered an exhilarating derby clash. Both teams showcased relentless energy and attacking prowess, with the Whites rising to the challenge. Coach Kyri lauded their best team performance of the season, emphasising their collective effort and defensive discipline.

Men 1st Team Advances: Omonia’s Men 1st Team advanced to the Intermediate Cup semi-finals with a walkover victory. Although the opposition failed to field a team, Coach Chris celebrated their progress in the competition, fuelling anticipation for the upcoming challenges.

U13 Green Prevails in Derby Duel: The U13 Green team emerged victorious in an intense Challenge Cup quarter-final derby against U13 White. Despite a spirited effort from both sides, goals from Harry, Cos, and Lysandros secured a 4-1 win for the Greens. Coach Jack praised their determination and clinical finishing, propelling them into the semi-finals.

U16 White’s Flawless Display: Omonia’s U16 White team dazzled in a 5-2 victory during the Spring Cup group stage. With a fluid attacking display, including goals from Bradley and Georgie, they showcased their progress and resilience. Coach Mike commended their composure and teamwork, highlighting their deserved progression to the knockout stage.

Omonia Youth FC’s weekend of match reports not only demonstrated their prowess on the field but also highlighted the club’s rich heritage and enduring spirit.
