Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit are appealing for information relating to a serious road traffic collision in Hertford.

The incident occurred on Mill Road was reported to police at around 10.54am today (Friday 22 March) where a black Ford Transit van collided with a pedal cycle.

Officers attended with colleagues from other emergency services and with the assistance of the air ambulance service.

A 58-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care or attention. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Shona Birkby from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, who is investigating said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen it take place.

“I also want to appeal to people with dashcams to check for any footage which may hold vital evidence that may support our investigation and to get in touch.”
