Koray was found near to Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton on the morning of 15 October 2022 by officers from Essex Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dylan Weatherley, 20 (11.03.04) , of no fixed address, is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on 14 March.

He has also been charged with the kidnap and false imprisonment of Koray and a 33-year-old woman.

DJ Koray Alpergin and his girlfriend Gozde Dalbudak were snatched as they returned home from an Italian restaurant in Mayfair in October 2022.

They were taken to an empty wine bar near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where 43-year-old Mr Alpergin was said to have been tortured and killed.

His body was then dumped in woodland near the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton and 34-year-old Ms Dalbudak spent two days locked in a toilet before being freed.

Now Dylan Weatherley, 20, of Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, has been charged with the kidnap and false imprisonment of Mr Alpergin and Ms Dalbudak, as well as conspiring to murder Mr Alpergin.

In December five men were jailed in relation to Mr Alpergin’s death.

Ali Kavak, 26, of De Quincey Road, Tottenham was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter, kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.

Tejean Kennedy, 33, of Cricklewood Broadway, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after he was found guilty of manslaughter, kidnap and false imprisonment.

Steffan Gordon, 34, of Dehavilland Close, Northolt – had pleaded guilty to kidnap and was found guilty of false imprisonment. He has now been jailed for eight years.

Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 35 of Dunbar Road, Wood Green was handed down a sentence of seven years, having pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and having been found guilty of kidnap.

Yigit Hurman, 18, of Audley Close, Muswell Hill, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Mr Alpergin, who was originally from Cyprus, was a well-known and popular figure .
