Thursday 13th March saw the final of ISFA U15 cup at Burton Albion . The U15s took centre stage in a closely fought encounter with Whitgift School. The first half saw Whitgift make a strong start but two outstanding saves from Anthony Haralambous kept the score level at 0-0 at half time. Aldenham started the 2nd half brightly and took the lead when Jordon Yakubu headed home from a corner. The game was a close event then in the last 10 minutes Tomas Gunasekara headed home from Jamie Agasee cross. Whitgift came back and scored with 3 mins to go. Then Aldenham captain Marley Francis secured the match with a 3 – 1 victory.
Cypriot boys Anthony Haralambous, Jamie Agasee and Joseph Copplestone played amazingly and showed their love of Cyprus by parading the flag with pride.
The future looks bright for Greek Cypriot footballers with the outstanding performance from these three rising stars.
