Cypriot athlete Iosif Kesidis won on Saturday the silver medal in the U23 hammer throw with 70.63m., during the European Throwing Cup hosted in Leiria, Portugal.

According to a press release issued by the Amateur Athletic Association of Cyprus (KOEAS), Kesidis’ performance constitutes a new Pancyprian U23 record, since he competes in this age category as of this year.

It is added that Panikos Charalambous’ athlete achieved his personal best at men’s hammer with 71.43m, also the Pancyprian U20 record, last year.

It is also noted that Kesidis is currently the holder of the world’s top U20 performance in 2024 at both the men’s hammer (70.63m) and the 6kg junior hammer (78.03m).
