AEK took on Borehamwood in this cup quarter final with a semi final place in store for the victors.

The conditions were wet and windy, the pitch was heavy and muddy and the rain was relentless. Both teams came out with intent and the early stages were cagey as they became accustomed to the conditions.

With AEK settled, they started to dictate and find openings, particularly through dangerous left winger Amarion who was causing problems with his pace and trickery.

With the second half underway and the rain pelting down, Borehamwood came out with a more physical approach, trying to derail and unsettle AEK. Keeping their heads, and playing their football, AEK doubled their lead through the lively Angel who beating the fullback for pace, sent a low shot into the corner and out of the GK’s reach.

With AEK in control, midfielder Kyros was pulling the strings, dictating the play and constantly finding pockets of space and hurting the opposition with his passing.

With the clock ticking down and AEK keeping the ball well to see out the game, there was nevertheless still time for a third goal. Midfielder Sami, receiving the ball on the half turn, lost his marker and curled a terrific 25 yard shot into the top corner to make it game set and match for AEK.
