Revenue from tourism in December recorded an annual increase by 29.0% according to the results of the Passengers Survey carried out by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat).

A press release by CyStat says that revenue from tourism reached €74.3 mn in December 2023 compared to €57.6 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 29.0%.

For the period of January – December 2023, revenue from tourism is estimated at €2,990.6 mn compared to €2,439.2 mn in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 22.6%.

The average expenditure per person was €600.79 in December 2023 compared to €523.42 in December 2022, recording an increase of 14.8%.

Tourists from the United Kingdom (the largest tourist market with 23.4% of the total tourists in December 2023) spent on average €56.23 per day, while tourists from Poland (the second largest market during the specific month with 11.5% of the total tourists) spent on average €69.89. Tourists from Greece (the third largest market with 10.3%), spent on average €39.41 per day.
