Thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of Cyprus overnight on Tuesday and during Wednesday, the Meteorology Department has said.

In a yellow warning for isolated strong thunderstorms the Department said that the storms are expected to initially affect the western part of the island and to gradually move to other areas.

It adds that hail is also expected to fall while winds are likely to become stronger.

Rainfall is expected to range between 35 and 55 mm per hour.

The warning is valid from 22:00 local time on Tuesday evening to 17:00 local time on Wednesday.
