Sadly, a man has died following a house fire on South Avenue in Chingford.

Most of the ground floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire. Sadly, one man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Brigade was called at 0952 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1107. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Chingford, Woodford, Enfield and Walthamstow fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
