President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides held a meeting on Wednesday with the King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander at the Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague, during which they discussed the Cyprus issue, the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as issues concerning the exchange of experience between Cyprus and the Netherlands in water management.
According to a press release by the Presidency, President Christodoulides held a meeting with the King in the framework of his one-day working visit to the Netherlands. The meeting focused mainly on the developments as regards the Cyprus issue, the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, issues concerning the exchange of experience between Cyprus and the Netherlands in water management issues, a topic of particular interest to the King of the Netherlands, as well as issues of the European agenda, such as the Future of Europe, the press release says.
President Christodoulides also signed the Visitors’ Book at the Palace stressing that “this visit reaffirms that our two countries enjoy particularly cordial and friendly relations, both at the bilateral level and at the European and multilateral level”.
The President also wrote that he is proud that the two countries, member states of the common European family, are committed to maintaining common universal and irreplaceable principles and values, “a fact that is particularly important in these turbulent times.”
“I am also happy because with my visit today to The Hague and my meeting with His Majesty we had the opportunity to discuss how we can give more impetus to the relations between our countries to further strengthen them for the benefit of our peoples” he concluded.
