Meeting of the General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou with the Minister of Justice and Public Order

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, met today with the Minister of Justice and Public Order Mario Hartsiotis.

During the meeting, issues concerning the Ministry of Justice were discussed. More specifically, the situation in the Police Force and the Central Prisons was discussed, as well as the problem of the sharp rise of organized crime. During the discussion, Stefanos Stefanou conveyed his Party’s views and proposals to the Minister, pointing out that AKEL has comprehensive positions on the above issues and pledged to forward them to the Minister.

The issue of fan violence was also discussed at the meeting. The General Secretary noted that AKEL places particular emphasis on prevention because this is the only way to effectively tackle the phenomenon of violence. S.Stefanou reiterated AKEL’s disagreement with the closure of stadiums.
