Moorfields Eye Charity’s annual fundraising walk Eye to Eye marks its 10th year on Sunday 23 June 2024. It will be their biggest and best event yet with lots of surprises along the way. This very memorable day will bring together sight loss patients, staff at Moorfields and local supporters, along with family and friends. Funds raised will be invested in essential sight saving research and innovation – changing lives.

One in five people will live with sight loss in their lifetime. It is predicted that by 2050 the number of people with sight loss in the UK will double to over four million.

This year walkers can take on 1, 5 or 15 mile routes – there’s something for everyone. Hundreds of people will travel past London landmarks and tread the historic streets. Patients, friends, families, hospital staff and researchers taking part in this flagship fundraising event are supporting innovations in research, patient care and training at Moorfields and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

There will be a brand new outdoor start and finish with more details to follow. At the finish line, walkers will celebrate with claps and cheers from the charity team, certificates and medals. You’ll be able to relax whilst enjoying drinks and snacks from Starbucks.

Susan, mother of Samuel who has been a lifelong Moorfields patient said: “Walking Eye to Eye is a fun day with family and friends to raise awareness and thank Moorfields for all they do. We really feel like we’re doing something special!”

Jo Green, head of fundraising and engagement: “Eye to Eye has a wonderful atmosphere and we look forward to it every year. We love welcoming familiar faces and meeting new people, all with the same mission to make a difference to people with sight loss. I can’t thank all the walkers enough for their support. We’d like to invite as many people as possible to take part on our 10th anniversary!”

There’s also a virtual option, My Eye to Eye, for those who want to fundraise closer to home on 22-23 June 2024, participants can walk, run or ride from their own doorsteps.

The money raised from Eye to Eye will be life-changing for those living with sight loss – having a huge impact on the many patients at Moorfields and worldwide.
