Wood Green Opticians supports local foodbank

A WOOD GREEN optician has donated much-needed items to Bounds Green Food Bank that helped feed more than 500 people over the Christmas period.

The Specsavers store in Haringey, North London collected donations from staff and customers.

Since the beginning of December 2023, the store collected 35 crates of food items worth over £1000 for the food bank and delivered its donation to the food bank on the 19th of December.

Heena Mistry-Vadgama, Specsavers Wood Green Lead Optometrist, said: ‘We are very passionate about donating to Bounds Green Food Bank, especially in such uncertain times.

‘We have worked with our local food bank on many occasions and last December we asked our great colleagues and customers in Wood Green if they could spare some food items to support their local community.”

A spokesperson from the Bounds Green Food Bank, said: ‘We are very grateful to Specsavers Woodgreen for organising another amazing collection for our guests at the food bank.

“We now serve over 500 families a week with cupboard items, fresh fruit and veg, personal hygiene items, cleaning products, and a free weekly advice service. The current climate has had a huge impact on the level of donations we receive so this is appreciated so much by us all.”
