Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault on Waltham Cross High Street.

The incident occurred at around 5pm on Monday 22 January near the pedestrian crossing, at the junction with Swanfield Road.

It is reported that a verbal altercation took place between a man and a woman, before another man, aged in his fifties, attempted to intervene and was assaulted.

He sustained injuries including a swollen eye.

Detective Constable Rebecca March, from the Cheshunt Local Crime Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and I am appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.

“The suspect is described as a white man with dark hair. He also possibly had a beard.

“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened, or have any further details that could assist our investigation? Please email me with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be. Thank you.”
