The UK Government has welcomed the appointment of Maria Ángela Holguín Cuéllar as Antonio Guterres’ envoy on Cyprus.

Posting on X the Minister for Europe Leo Docherty commented: “The appointment of Ms Holguín as the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus is an important step and we welcome the agreement of both leaders to work with her. The UK will support her to find common ground between the sides and secure a just and lasting settlement.”
