Electricity is back on at the Nicosia General Hospital after a power outage, while efforts were underway to repair the damage, Spokesperson of the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY) Charalambos Harilaou said on Monday, assuring that no life was at risk.

Harilaou said that efforts were underway to repair the damage.

He added that, the Crisis Team of the Nicosia General Hospital has been working on it “from the first moment”, and that they have taken all the necessary actions, while there was nothing that could pose a risk to the life of any patient. Harilaou, who said that it was the north side of the hospital that has been affected, expressed hope that by the end of the day, there would be full restoration of the damage.

According to Harilaou, due to the situation there were some postponements regarding outpatient clinics which would be rescheduled.

Replying to a question, he said that generators did work, as well as the uninterruptible power supply systems.
