Acclaimed Cypriot painter Lia Boyiatzi has been selected from among a multitude of artists from around the world to participate in the famous «Salon d’Automne» art exhibition organised every year in the French capital since 1903, the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Paris said in a press release on Monday.

The representation of Cyprus through the participation of artist Lia Boyiatzi, with a self-portrait “is therefore a supreme honour and recognition”, primarily for the artist herself, while at the same time it promotes the island and its artistic production, to the world, notes the Embassy.

This year, it said, the exhibition will take place from 18 to 21 January 2024 at the Grande Halle de la Villette, “a space that is an architectural jewel”. It adds that, during the exhibition, which will host over 1200 works from different fields of art such as printmaking, sculpture, digital art and photography, visitors will have the opportunity to attend lectures, fashion shows and music and dance performances.

The Embassy notes that, Boyiatzi’s “bright career” also includes an honourable mention at the “Salon des Àristes Français”, for her painting “L’écrivain” with which she participated in the exhibition “Art Capital” which took place at the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris in February 2022. Boyiatzi participated for the second consecutive year in the said exhibition in 2023 with her work “Le comédien”, it is noted.

It adds that Boyiatzi, who studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, since 2019, has been living and working in Paris, where she is an active member of the Association of French Artists “La Maison des Artistes”, while she is a founding member of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts, among other things.
