Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit are appealing for information relating to a fatal road traffic collision on the A1M.

The incident was reported to police at around 6.30am today (Monday 22 January) where it is believed that a black Renault Megane convertible left the road for reasons unknown.

The incident occured between junction 1 (South Mimms) and junction 2 (Welham Green) travelling northbound.

Officers attended with colleagues from other emergency services and sadly a 47-year-old man from Middlesex was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are being supported by officers at this time.

Detective Sergeant Ben Heath from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit who is investigating said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen a vehicle on its side in the early hours of Monday morning (22 January).

“If you were driving in the area between 6am and 6.30am and have dash cam footage, please report this to me.”
