The US Secretary of Defense has commended Cyprus for its steadfast support to Ukraine and role in supporting the flow of humanitarian aid to Israel and Gaza.

According to Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke on Tuesday with Cypriot Minister of Defense Michalis Giorgallas “to thank him for Cyprus’ close partnership in enabling U.S. support for humanitarian operations and to ensure the safety and security of U.S. citizens in the region”.

“Secretary Austin commended Cyprus for its steadfast support to Ukraine and role in supporting the flow of humanitarian aid to Israel and Gaza” he said.

Moreover, he notes that “the two leaders also expressed appreciation for the expanding bilateral defense relationship between the United States and Cyprus”.
