The annual Foreign Press Association Media Awards took place on Monday 20th November at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane.
Guest of Honour at the event was Her Majesty Queen Camilla who delivered a speech in which she commended the role of the media in various fields and the importance of the job of journalists in unveiling powerful storytelling across the world.

She underscored the significance of women’s presence in the media field, particularly those  who risk their lives in war zones to report on conflicts.

At the event, Queen Camilla was nominated by the Director of the FPA, Deborah Bonetti, as an honorary member of the association.
Known as the “Oscars of Journalism”, the FPA Media Awards are among the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the world. Dedicated to excellence in journalism, the awards present a unique opportunity for journalists to be celebrated and recognised by their international peers. British and international entries are welcome from all the world’s major broadcasters, newspapers, digital news and magazines.

Well known cameraman/photographer Doros Partasides participated in the category ‘TV News Story Of The Year 2023’with a four and a half minute clip titled REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS 1974-2023 which included his photographs portraying human suffering such as that of the Missing People and Refugees, as well as Religious Heritage, the Green Line, Nicosia Airport and Famagusta Town, most of which were taken in July 1974 during the Turkish invasion.

The short video was prepared by Mr Partasides alongside George Michael and Stavri Kleanthous (Stavri Kay) at the offices of Parikiaki newspaper. You can view the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW108t031As

Mr Partasides told Parikiaki he was extremely proud to attend this prestigious event dedicated to the freedom of the press.
