With the completion of the Match Day 16 of the Cyta Football League, APOEL and Anorthosis are in 1st and 2nd place with 38 and 34 points, respectively, while in the next three places Omonoia, Aris and Pafos are tied with 32 points each.

APOEL in the 16 matches of the season has so far gathered 38 points, as they have 12 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. Anorthosis is also having an excellent season and is the second place with 34 points. The team from Famagusta, in the 16 matches, has achieved 10 victories, brought 4 draws and received only 2 defeats.

Omonoia is also having a pretty good year, having, however, more ups and downs than the two leading teams. The “greens” has lost only two times so far, from APOEL with 3-0 in the Match Day 16 and from Anorthosis with 2-0 in the Match Day 11.

Omonoia has achieved 9 wins, has just two losses, and 5 draws so far.

Champions Aris, like Pafos, have a better win record than Omonoia, as they have won 10 games in total, however they have suffered 4 defeats and have just 2 draws.

It should be noted that Pafos maintains a more efficient offensive line as well as defensive, as it has scored 31 goals and conceded 11, while Aris scored 28 goals and conceded 16.

The top six of the League is completed by AEK Larnaca, which did not start this year’s league very well. The hiring of Israeli coach Ben Shimon, however, has transformed the team for the better. After 16 games, AEK has 29 points, and is 3 points behind Pafos and Aris and 4 points ahead of Apollon which is in the 7th place of the standings.

After 16 matches, Apollon is in 7th place with 25 points, having won 7 games, lost 5 and settled for 4 draws.

New Salamina is in 8th place of the Standings with 22 points (6 wins, 6 losses and 4 draws).

AEL of Limassol is far at the moment from the aspirations of its fans, since is in the 9th place with 19 points, (6 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw).

At the bottom of the Standings, Doxa despite its great victory over Aris, seems to be the weakest team since it is in the 14th and last place with only 4 points.

Beyond that, between the 9th and 14th places, there are 4 teams, which will fight to avoid the other two places that lead to the 2nd Division.
