Cypriot scientist Kyriakos Veresies became a professor emeritus by the London-based Spinnaker International Training Center in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Veresies is a professor at Phillips University in Nicosia.

A press release said that Director of the Spinnaker Center Professor John White praised Veresies for his contribution to the prevention of addictions and the promotion of mental health in Cyprus and in other parts of the world.

The founder and executive director of the K Centerm Chaminda De Silva thanked Dr. Veresies for his contribution to the pioneering implementation of prevention programs in Sri Lanka and the promotion of creative relations with KENTHEA center (center for the treatment of drug addicted persons) in Cyprus.

In his acceptance speech Dr Veresies spoke about the continuous traumatic stress that the Cypriot people live as a result of the 1974 Turkish occupation of Cyprus and the insecurity of an unsolved political problem.
