Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to a fire at a nursery on Burlington Road in Tottenham.

A small part of the ground floor in a detached single storey nursery was destroyed by fire. No injuries are reported.

The Brigade called at 1615 and the incident was under control by 1901. Fire crews from Tottenham, Stoke Newington, Edmonton, Walthamstow and Hornsey fire stations were in attendance.

The cause of the fire is accidental and is believed to be caused by a combustible item left on a plate warmer in the kitchen.
