Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire in a commercial property on Poland Street, Westminster.

The fire was located in the basement of a commercial property of four floors, currently under refurbishment. The basement space was partly damaged by the fire. Traffic on Oxford Street was heavily impacted as the Brigade responded.

The Brigade received the first of three calls reporting the fire at 0903. Crews had the incident under control by 1010. Firefighters from Paddington, Soho and Lambeth Fire station attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
