The General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou today expressed his certainty that after Sunday’s Statutory Congress, AKEL will be more effective in its interventions and the policy it develops for the benefit of Cyprus, the people, the workers and common people.

In statements made during a visit to the Larnaca Municipal Gallery, where works from the Larnaca Biennale are on display, and asked about the AKEL Statutory Congress to be held on Sunday 26 November, Stefanos Stefanou replied that “we are completing a process that began some time ago, which included discussions on the amendments proposed both at the level of the Central Committee and at the level of the Party grassroots membership as a result of a broad democratic dialogue that has been conducted”.

The General Secretary of AKEL added that “on Sunday, this process will be completed with the approval of specific amendments tabled on behalf of the Central Committee, which aim to further strengthen democracy within the Party’s procedures, to enhance the role and voice of Party members in the debate and decision-making processes, and at the same time to make the Party more effective in its interventions and development of its policies in society and with better reflexes.”

I am sure, Stefanos Stefanou continued, “that with the conclusion of the Congress, AKEL will continue to be even more vibrant, even more effective in its interventions and policies it always develops for the benefit of our Cyprus, our people, workers and the common people”.
