AEK U15s v Whetstone Wanderers

On a cold and frosty Sunday, an early kick saw AEK U15s take on Whestsone in the Challenge Cup.

With both teams in the top division of the Watford Friendly League, they knew each other well and it was AEK who took the game to their opponents, starting brightly and going ahead on 6 minutes where a nice ball from Henry found Nahimia who with a nice touch to set himself, rifled it into the bottom corner to put AEK 1-0 ahead.

With Whetstone passing it around well and playing some tidy football, AEK were organised and worked hard to limit them to speculative long shots which GK Theo handled with ease.

AEK continued to press and grabbed their second through a dangerous left footed corner by Amarion which found Lucca, who rose well to head past the Whetstone GK and take a 2-0 lead into half time.

With Marcus and Michael dominating the midfield, AEK were starting to control the game, creating chances and playing with confidence. A terrific 30 yard pass from John in defence found striker Angel who controlled it well and cushioned a great lay off to the impressive Michael who hit an unstoppable half volley into the top right hand corner, leaving the GK with no chance.

More chances fell to AEK, where with a little more composure could have added to their tally and won more convincingly. But in the end, they progress into the next round, well-deserved 3-0 winners.

Goals- Nahimia, Lucca, Michael
MOM – Marcus: a dominant midfield performance, showing excellent technical ability and work ethic.
