New Salamis Under 18s win through to the FA Youth Cup First Round tonight with a stunning comeback

The reds got off to a bad start and were down 1-0 within five minutes when a goal mouth scramble in their area allowed a Dereham striker to poke the ball home.

Dereham went 2-0 up in the 19th minute from a free kick just outdide the box.

Dereham third goal came when one of their attackers shot hit the post and and another was on hand to pounce and slam it into the back of the net.

Their opponents Dereham Town raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half, with the young Salamina team pulling a goal back to 3-1 just before half time from a corner with Max Melandri able to tap it into the back of the net within a crowd of players.

The Salamina youngsters piled on pressure and scored a second goal in the 86th minute for 3-2 with a shot from Georgios Christoforou just outside the box  before equalising in the 88th minute for 3-3 with a goal from again Georgios Christoforou  to take the game to penalties.

The reds kept their nerve to win 10-9 on penalties and into the 1st Round proper of the FA Youth Cup where they will play Colchester United, date To be confirmed.
