The two Cypriot teams AEK and Omonia who are flying the Cyprus flag in the Europa league met each other in their league game at the GSP stadium.
Both teams although are doing well in Europe have been disappointing in the league Omonia lost to Akritas Chlorakas in their first game and AEK drew with Doxa so this game was very important for both teams.
Omonia led 2-0 the first a spectacular overhead kick from Bezus in the 35th minute and then a penalty from Bachirou just after the half time break.
AEK reduced the score to 2-1 when Gyurcso scored from the penalty spot.
An Omonia defender error allowed Olatunji to score inside the box to equalise for AEK.
And with five minutes to go a powerful shot from outside the box from Papoulis found the net to give Omonia a vital 3-2 win.
Apollon made it difficult for themselves in beating Doxa 1-0 their goal coming from a Robergue header.
In form Pafos who drew 0-0 with Apoel last week beat Karmiotissa 4-0 through two penalties from Valari and Tankovic in the first half. Kane and Semedo added another two goals to give Pafos a 4-0 win.
New Salamina two wins on the trot are in second place after beating Akritas Chlorakas 2-1 New Salamis took the lead in the 26th minute with a shot just inside the box from Migelito. Akritas equalised in the 84th minute through Varanda and with two minutes to go New Salamis regained the lead when Diakite placed the ball into the far corner of the net to give the reds a 2-1 win.
Top of the table Aris beat Olympiakos 5-0 their goals coming from Babicka 2, Bergtsson, Brown and Spojanic.
A good away win for Apoel beating Anorthosis 2-0 with two assist crosses from the right from Kviilthaia both similar to each other the first laid on for Marquinhos in the 32nd minute to score and the second scorer was Blum in added time.
Enosis Neon Paralimni surprised AEL away on their home pitch in Limassol. AEL failed to take advantage of their abundance of chances and it cost them when a late flurry from Paralimni produced a goal in the 73rd minute when a long ball from inside their half found Roushias in AEL’s half who on a break shot just inside the box which took the goalkeepers deflection into the back of the net.
