Limassol Mayor Nicos Nikolaides and the new Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Liu Yantao, agreed on Friday to promote joint actions to strengthen relations between Limassol and China, during a meeting they had in Limassol Municipal Hall.
 
Nicolaides stated that many people from China live in Limassol and constitutes an active community of the city, with which they have excellent relations.
 
Recalling that prior to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, joint events were organised, such as the Chinese Cultural Festival, the Mayor of Limassol expressed the hope that these joint actions with the Chinese community will resume soon.
 
In addition, he went on to say, the twinning of Limassol with another Chinese city is underway. Limassol is already twinned with the Chinese city of Nanjing since September 24, 1992. Nicolaides noted that he discussed with the Chinese Ambassador ways to implement these decisions in various sectors, such as tourism, culture, innovation and the Blue Economy.
