Two people lost their lives due to COVID19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths to 119, 78 men (66%), and
41 women (34%) with median age 80 years.

The Ministry of Health announced that 159 patients are being treated in state hospitals, 41 of whom in a critical condition.

In the last 24 hours 17,451 tests were carried out to detect the new coronavirus, and 704 new cases were found, with the PCR method and the antigen rapid tests. Since the outbreak of the pandemic the number of cases in Cyprus reaches 22,019.

The patients who died today were a 67 year old man and a 90 year old man, both with underlying conditions.

In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 68 patients receiving treatment, 49 are in the Nicosia General Hospital, 37 in the Limassol General Hospital and 5 in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

Out of the 704 cases detected today 194 were from contact tracing, 7 from tests at airports, 112 from private initiative, 24 from samples taken at the Microbiology Labs of the General Hospitals, 364 from the antigen rapid tests, and 3 other cases were found after testing passengers arriving from the UK on the 7th day of their self isolation in the Republic`s hotels.

No cases were found out of 36 samples taken after GP referrals and out of 28 tests done among residents of Kato Pyrgos Tillirias.
