Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry Christina Yiannaki, Christis Loizides, Chief Executive Officer at the State Health Services Organisation of Cyprus, Dr Christos Kypri and 17 nurses got inoculated on Sunday at the Famagusta Hospital, the island’s COVID-19 Reference Hospital.
 
Yiannaki said that today’s marks almost a year since they set up the Reference Hospital when the pandemic broke out and called on everyone to get the shots for the benefit of the public health. She said that people should feel safe. Yiannaki also said that the high number of cases in the community is worrisome and called on people to follow the measures and adhere with the decrees in place.

Loizides said that only if the population gets the vaccine we will be able to fight the pandemic and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Scientific Director of the Hospital Amalia Hadjiyianni said that she feels emotional today because everyone’s sacrifices are paying off.
Coordinator of the COVID ward at the Hospital Dr Christos Kypri said that they have been waiting for this moment long ago and expressed his pride for the progress of the medical community.

He said that the correct message should be sent and urged the public to get the shots.

Nurse Marios Polydorou said that this is the beginning for the containment of the pandemic, adding that things were very difficult at the beginning but now they are more prepared , however the situation is still risky.
