Three people lost their lives due to COVID-19, while another 433 new cases were detected in Cyprus, authorities announced on Thursday.
 
A Ministry of Health announcement says that the total number of deaths rose to 107, with 68 men (64%), and 39 women (36%) with a median age of 80 years. 
 
It is added that 142 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, 34 of whom in a critical condition.

In the last 24 hours 8,720 tests were carried out to detect the coronavirus, of which 4,024 with the PCR method and 4,696 through antigen rapid tests.
 
A total of 433 new coronavirus cases were reported, 94 of which are verifications of antigen rapid tests done in the previous days. Since the outbreak of the pandemic 19,316 people have been infected with the virus.
 
Meanwhile, the Ministry announced that 154 people tested positive with the antigen rapid test, but this has to be verified with the PCR method.
 
The three people who died were a man of 83 years of age, a 94 year old man and a 95 year old woman, all with underlying conditions.
 
In the state hospitals 142 patients are being treated, 34 of whom in a critical condition. In Famagusta General Hospital there are 64 patients, in Nicosia General Hospital 41, in Limassol General Hospital 36 and in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia 2.
 
The new cases were found as follows: 172 through contact tracing, 122 through private initiative, 45 from samples taken at the Microbiology Labs of the General Hospitals, 94 were verifications of rapid tests done in previous days. 

No cases were found after testing 722 samples from passengers, 16 samples from GP referrals, 54 samples taken from residents of Kato Pyrgos Tillirias.
