The Cyprus Ministry of Health has announced that following the detection of a new strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the United Kingdom, passengers arriving at Larnaca and Paphos airports from UK airports should stay in self-isolation for a period of 14 days or for a period of 10 days, provided that they undergo a molecular test with a negative result.

It notes that during the period of self-isolation, if symptoms occur, the GP should be contacted for medical guidance. This measure entered into effect this morning at 0600 am Cyprus time.

The Ministry says that this measure is complementary to the measure that is already in force for the presentation of a negative certificate of molecular test (PCR test) of the last 72 hours, while sample tests at airports continue to be carried out.

It notes that data are being evaluated by the Scientific Advisory Committee on the coronavirus, and any new recommendations will be announced.
