Cyprus authorities on Sunday announced 1 death and 266 new COVID-19 cases. The total number of deaths in the Republic is 112 and the cases 19,657. The Health Ministry also announced that 154 patients are hospitalized and 57 of them are in serious condition.

A total of 5,925 tests were conducted, 1,970 of them via PCR method and 3,955 were rapid tests.
Among the 266 tests that came back positive are 134 rapid tests of previous days that were confirmed with the PCR method.

From the rapid tests, 238 came back positive but need confirmation.

The patient who passed away is a male, 81 years old with underlying conditions who was getting treatment at Nicosia General Hospital. The total number of deaths is 112,  73 males (65%), and 39 females (35%) and the median age is 79 years.
From the 57 patients in serious condition, the 25 are intubated, 1 is at the ICU and 31 in the Advanced Care Unit.

The 266 new cases were detected as follows:
 
90 from 512 tests done in the framework of contact tracing
16 from tests done on private initiative
19 from 263 samples at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals island wide
7 from 358 tests done from GP referrals and at public clinics
134 cases from 138 rapid tests that had to be confirmed via PCR

Moreover, 450 tests were done  at the airports and no case was detected.
