Cyprus Health Ministry announced 4 more deaths from COVID-19 and 349 new cases on Monday. The number of patients in hospitals island wide now stands at 123 and 16 are in a serious condition.

The total number of deaths has reached 82 (52 males and 30 females) and the cases in the Republic 15,450.

The new cases were detected from a total of 9,951 tests, of which 3,117 were done via PCR and 6,834 were rapid tests.

In the 349 cases, 142 were confirmed rapid tests done in the previous days.

Moreover 212 rapid tests came back positive but need to be confirmed via a PCR.

All deceased, two females 85 and 86 years old and two males 96 and 89 had underlying conditions and were hospitalized at the Reference Hospital in Famagusta and the General Hospital in Limassol. They were previously residing at care homes.

Today’s cases were detected as follows:

31 Cases were found from 793 samples in the framework of contact tracing process, 4 cases were detected from 995 tests at airports 50 cases were found from 472 samples on a private initiative, 31 from 402 samples at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, 2 cases were found from 220 tests done from GP referrals and special groups at the public clinics, 1 was found from 86 samples in homes for the elderly and other closed units, 142 cases were found from 149 samples of rapid tests which needed confirmation via PCR.
