Chrys Chrysanthou, journalist, photographer, radio presenter and producer, sadly passes away

Chrys Chrysanthou sadly passed away today Tuesday 3rd September 2019 at the age of 68. He leaves behind his two sons Alex and Philip and his sister Nitsa.

Chrys was born in Famagusta and his parents were from the village of Komi Kebir. He attended A Gymnasium Ammochostos and then came to London where he studied at the London School of Journalism and Graphic design at Barnet and Southgate College.

Chrys was well known to our community; he was a journalist and photographer for the Vema, Parikiaki and Nea newspapers and radio presenter and producer for London Greek Radio. He was a very well known wedding photographer in our community too.

He had the privilege to interview and take photos of boxer Muhammad Ali, actors Roger Moore, Omar Sharif, Vincent Price, Oliver Reed and Lee Marvin, actresses Julie Andrews and Julie Christie, musicians Bee Gees, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Cliff Richard, Marc Bolan, The Who, Beatle Ringo Starr, Art Garfunkel,David Essex, Mikis Theodorakis, Cat Stevens, Michael Jackson, Tom Jones, Demis Roussos, Diana Ross, David Bowie, George Michael, Nana Mouskouri, Neil Diamond and members of the Royal family such as the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Anne.

He has lived in Los Angeles, France and Greece before moving to Limassol Cyprus and setting up the Chrys Chrysanthou Photo Studio.

He was very devoted to helping his family and friends and was loved by all our community.

The funeral will be held on Thursday 5th September 2019 at Agia Fyla Church in Limassol, Cyprus.
