The volunteers of Enfield were given a well-earned knees up to acknowledge the incredible work they do in the borough.

The event on Friday 6 September was hosted by Enfield Voluntary Action (EVA) and was an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and contribution of volunteers who collectively help to make Enfield a better place to work, play and live in.

It took place at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton and was supported by Enfield Council, the Felix Project Enfield and funded by the Mayor of London through London Plus, formerly the charity Greater London Volunteering.

A large number of charities, groups and individuals were represented at the event. Helen Price at EVA said: “Many people who volunteer do so in relative isolation and yet there are hundreds and hundreds of volunteers in our community without whom essential local services would not be available. We wanted to get this community of people together to celebrate them, offer our thanks, and hear their stories.”

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Cohesion, Cllr Nneka Keazor, said: “Volunteering enriches our society, brings together communities and helps us learn so much about each other. Congratulations to all the volunteers who were recognised at EVA’s event and many thanks for your ongoing and valuable contributions.”

There are many volunteering opportunities available at Enfield Council. For those with just a few hours spare every month, why not volunteer in one of Enfield’s 17 libraries? For those looking to work with young people and are perhaps considering a career in social or youth work, there are several roles in the Youth and Family Support Service. To find out more go to .
