Detectives investigating the murder of 16-year-old Alex Smith in Camden have made two further arrests.

A 19-year-old male [D], was arrested at an address in Camden on Saturday, 17 August on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a central London police station.

A 19-year-old male [E] was arrested at an address in Wembley on Sunday, 18 August. He remains in custody at a North London Police Station.

++ A 23-year-old man [A], an 18-year-old man [B] arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, 14 August, have been bailed to return on a date in mid-September.

++ A 20-year-old man [C] arrested on 16 August has been released on bail to a date in mid-September.

Alex Smith, 16, from Wembley, died after being stabbed in Munster Square, NW1, on Monday, 12 August.

A post-mortem examination conducted on Thursday, 15 August found the cause of Alex’s death to have been a stab wound to the chest.

Police were called at approximately 23:10hrs on Monday, 12 August to reports of a stabbing at Munster Square

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and Alex Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Jamie Stevenson, from Specialist Crime, said: “We’re still keeping an open mind concerning the motive of this brutal attack and thank those who have come forward and spoken to us so far.

“We know there are individuals out there who can assist this investigation and we continue to appeal for those people to make contact with officers. Please do the right thing and come forward, anonymously if need be, but do make the call.”
