St Panteleimon 4 Bedford 2,

A hard-fought win back at Greenford, with Bedford taking the lead from a freekick and good header. But within a few minutes the Saints were on top with goals from Ibadat Mohammadi and Tajbakhsh. Then a couple more from Tajbakhsh (who was last season’s top scorer with 22 goals in 20 games) earned him his first hat-trick of the season. Bedford then crafted a wind assisted long range free-kick goal, that outwitted the normally sharp Saints keeper Donald Manaj. It wasn’t enough to catch the super Saints.

St Panteleimon are top and the only club on maximum points in the Spartan South Midlands League first division.

After a breathless week, we see the continuation of a great steely character and, as the Club Chaplain says, “a distinct winning character which prevails”. Amen to that.

Next Saturday 17th August: St Panteleimon v. Brimsdown FC, Greenford, UB6 0NX. All welcome.
