New Salamis FC 4 – 1 Evergreen

2019 has started well for New Salamis with two wins out of two league games, as they play catch up at the top of the Herts Senior County League.

The reds started very well creating chances and it was Harrison Georgiou who was to put them ahead. Andreas Chambi sent in a deep cross from the right hand side, Chris Arthur hooked the ball back, and Harrison header home from inside the six yard box. 1 – 0.

Harrison was on hand to score the second goal also with a low drive into the bottom corner on the 19th minute mark. 2 – 0.

Salamina should have gone further ahead but for a fantastic double save by the young Evergreen keeper. The returning John Kyriacou who had been with injury since October then scored the goal of the game. 25 yards out Kyriacou hit a sublime free kick into the top corner for 3-0 on the 45th minute.

The second half saw Evergreen come out and score in the 1st minute following a run down the right wing and cut back for 3-1. The second half was full of incident and missed chances for the reds until Deniz Mehmet made it 4-1 in the 65th minute. Salamina should have scored more but missed more opportunities and the final score finished 4-1, and 3 more valuable points as we chance the leaders at the top.
