Detectives investigating a fire in which a woman died are releasing an image of a potential witness they wish to trace.

Police were called shortly after 02:00hrs on Tuesday, 21 November to reports of a fire at a residential address in Daleham Gardens, Camden.

Officers, the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service attended.

The premises had been divided into 11 flats and a number of people had to be evacuated.

However, the female occupant of one flat was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been indentified as Magdalena Fink, 35, who was originally from Sendenhorst in Germany, but was a resident in the UK.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on 1 December at St Pancras Mortuary; no formal cause of death was established and police await the result of further tests.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but it started in a cupboard in the communal basement.

Enquires continue by detectives and London Fire Brigade investigators.

Detective Inspector Tom Kearney from the Central North Command Unit, said:

“We are keeping and an open mind as to the circumstances of this tragic incident and still trying to discover the exact cause of the fire. For this reason we are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.

“We are also releasing a CCTV image of a man who was in the area around the time of the fire. We would ask this person, or anyone who knows or recognises them, to contact police. This man could have vital information that could assist the enquiry.”

No arrests have been made.
