MP Harriet Harman walking the Met in Peckham

Members of Parliament and London Assembly Members will be out across the Capital again today, Friday 15 December, joining Metropolitan Police officers on the beat on the second day of #WalkTheMet.

#WalkTheMet sees MPs and assembly members spending a couple of hours with officers as the Capital gears up for Christmas, with thousands of shoppers and partygoers on the streets enjoying the seasonal festivities.

Officers began being joined by the elected representatives yesterday, Thursday 14 December on their morning, noon and night shifts, allowing them to see the extra demands placed on police officers keeping London safe throughout the festive period.

A further 35 elected representatives will be joining officers across London on the beat today.

The officers and their guests will be using #WalkTheMet on social media to update residents about their movements throughout the initiative.
