A murder investigation has been launched in Hackney after a man was found with fatal stab injuries.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 16:45hrs on Thursday, 7 December to reports of a man suffering a stab injury on Christie Road at the junction with Cassland Road.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

The 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene at 17:20hrs.

His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Poplar Mortuary at 14:00hrs on Friday, 8 December.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Piscopo who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand the victim was involved in an altercation with a group before he was fatally attacked.

“Were you there? Did you see anything that can assist police?

“A large crowd had gathered shortly after the attack and following the victim collapsing in Christie Road. I would urgently appeal for those present to contact my team with information.”
