Metaswitch will consolidate three buildings into one with relocation in Enfield Town
– Enfield Council is keen to help investment in the heart of Enfield
– The proposed site is at the current Genotin Road car park

Enfield Council is paving the way for global communications software company Metaswitch Networks Ltd to significantly expand its global headquarters in Enfield Town.

As part of the company’s plans to increase its workforce and consolidate its position as one of the largest employers in Enfield Town, Metaswitch has, with the assistance of Enfield Council, identified a prime location for new premises that will house its current 348 employees in a single new building and provide capacity to further expand its technology workforce.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration & Business, Cllr Alan Sitkin said: “We are delighted that Metaswitch has taken the decision to remain in Enfield Town and furthermore to expand its operations. We have worked hard to accommodate the company’s needs as its requirements have grown and we are extremely happy to help this already-successful business flourish further.

“This really is fantastic news for the borough’s growth and sustainability, particularly as we have a proud history of supporting innovators and pioneers of new technology. Enfield is ‘open for business’ and we welcome opportunities to provide inward investment, employment, a boost to future retail and to help kick-start an evening economy. We see Metaswitch’s new location as a catalyst for further economic development in the heart of the Town Centre.”

“Enfield has been home to Metaswitch for more than three decades,” said Ian Ferguson, Founder and Board Member of Metaswitch.

“We’re a company that remains as committed to our employees and community as we are to our customers and innovation.  It’s a recipe that continues to turn local employment into global growth at a time when many of our international competitors are consolidating or being acquired.”

The new office development will take place, subject to planning permissions and agreement of terms, at the Genotin Road car park. The company is currently at capacity in three buildings near Enfield Chase train station. As part of the new office development, Metaswitch has offered the use of its new staff car park at weekends throughout the year.

Metaswitch is a communications software company, powering more than 1,000 service provider networks worldwide. It has offices across the US, UK and Middle-East and in the Latin America and Asia/Pacific regions. The company, founded in 1981, has been in Enfield for all 36 years.
