Detectives investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man in Walthamstow have made five arrests, with the victim named as Kacem Mokrane.

Kacem, 18 and from Walthamstow, died on Monday, 20 November from injuries sustained after being stabbed in Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow on the evening of Thursday, 16 November.

Police were called to reports of a males armed with weapons at the scene at the scene at around 23:15hrs.

A post mortem examination took place at Walthamstow Mortuary on Friday, 24 November and gave the cause of death as multiple organ failure following a stab wound.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating. Five arrests have been made so far, and officers are appealing for information.

On Monday, 27 November, a 17-year-old male [A], a 19-year-old man [B] and a 17-year-old male [C] were arrested at addresses in east London on suspicion of murder.

On Tuesday, 28 November, a 20-year-old man [D] and a 16-year-old male [E] were arrested in connection with the investigation, on suspicion of murder.

All five males are currently in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, leading the investigation, said: “It has now been over a week since Kacem was attacked and murdered in the street. Our investigation continues to make progress but I would ask anyone who has information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact my officers – it could prove vital to this investigation.”
