Detectives investigating the death of a man in central London are appealing for three witnesses to come forward and speak with them.

Detectives would like to speak with three men who were in the Sophisticats bar on Marylebone Lane, W1. It is believed they were in the area around the time that 49-year-old Guzman Shannan was assaulted and they may have information that will assist officers with their investigation.

Detective Constable Neil Goodwin, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “We are keen to hear from the three men who were in a bar on the night that Guzman was killed. It is possible that they have information that will help us piece together the events of that night to establish what led to a man losing his life.

“I would urge them to contact the incident room. I would also like to hear from anyone else who has information but who is yet to speak with officers.”

Police were called to reports of a fight at Henrietta Place, W1, at 06:27hrs on Saturday, 29 July.

At the scene, officers found Mr Shannan, a Swedish national, suffering from head injuries.

He was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital in a critical condition. He died on Wednesday, 2 August. His next of kin are aware.

A post-mortem examination held at St George’s Hospital Mortuary on Tuesday, 8 August gave cause of death as a head injury.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact the Homicide and Major Crime Command on their incident room number of 020 8721 4205 or if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
